We are pleased to welcome Makenna Fisher as the new Manager of Business Services & Communication for Firelands Forward! Fisher joins our team with a focus on connecting local employers to these projects and other strategies to improve their workforce development efforts. 

Fisher is the first to hold this job title for Firelands Forward. Firelands Forward supports talent retention, development, and attraction to the Firelands region. Priority projects have been facilitating high school career connections and coordinating supportive programs such as childcare and transportation for working individuals with the goal to encourage job retention in entry-level jobs and advancement.  

“I am grateful to work with the team at Firelands Forward & ECEDC to support job creation and new business talent strategies through Erie, Huron, & Ottawa counties” Fisher said. 
  
Fisher served as the Human Resources and Marketing Manager for Dave’s Food Mart, her family’s business for the last 3 years.  She grew up in Norwalk and was a 2017 graduate from Norwalk St. Paul High School.   

Abbey Bemis, Firelands Forward Advisory Board Member said, “Makenna’s experience in a small, locally owned business has given her the awareness and tools needed to connect with peer businesses and perform well in this role.” 

Fisher said she enjoys promoting change in her community. She hopes to help business owners achieve their goals as well as help job seekers find their ideal career.
